MISSION STATEMENT: The Valspar Automotive Training Department is dedicated to providing the most comprehensive Valspar paint and process instruction that will educate our customers with the necessary skills to enhance the quality and productivity of their refinish operations.


Valspar Refinish Basic Two Day

Student profile: shop technicians and those involved in automotive refinishing
Students completing this course will be able to:

  • Identify dangerous chemicals, select and properly use appropriate safety equipment
  • Clean guns and properly dispose of any waste products
  • Select and apply primers, sealers and base coats (color)
  • Select and use paint delivery tools such as paint guns, booths and hoses
  • Formula retrieval, mixing and spraying of Valspar Coatings
  • Blend colors effectively
  • Apply clear to achieve desired finish quality

Application format: Very hands-on, shared projects, work dress

De Beer Refinish Basic Two Day

Student profile: This program is designed for in-shop technicians and those involved in the day-to-day activity of painting automobiles.
Students completing this course will be able to:

  • Identify the three qualities of color
  • Describe mesmerism and act on the effects
  • Adjust color
  • Tint color
  • Evaluate flop and side tone
  • Spray let down panels
  • Properly match color for blending
  • Apply clear to achieve desired finish quality

  • Demonstrate proper packaging and storage of water base products
  • Select and use paint delivery and drying equipment for water base products
  • Formula retrieval, mixing and spraying of De Beer 900 Waterbase system
  • Blend colors effectively
  • Apply clear to achieve desired finish quality
